This cathedral was built in Baroque style for the Jesuit order in 1700–1710. Its interior was decorated with luxurious frescos and wooden figures of the apostles. During World War II the cathedral suffered a great damage, was modified beyond recognition and rebuilt. The cathedral was returned to the church in 1993 only. In the decade that followed a detailed restoration of the building’s exterior and interior was carried out. Unique frescos inside the cathedral were restored, and the organ was renovated.
