"THE GASTRONOMIC HISTORY OF MINSK. THE TWENTIETH CENTURY"

Gastronomic culture occupies an important place in the social history of the city. It illustrates the socio-cultural and economic situation, influences customs, interpersonal relationships and urban spaces.

The exhibition tells about the culinary history of the city in the twentieth century, including public and home catering, and the activities of food industry enterprises. The topics of cooking and serving food, the history of popular dishes and places where people dined or bought food are revealed. The evolution of the food system in the twentieth century is demonstrated through tableware for storing, processing, cooking and serving food, photographs, household items, kitchen appliances, paintings.

There are many items related to the history of food industry enterprises in Minsk. Labels and packaging of products of such enterprises of the city as the confectionery factory "Kommunarka", the Minsk biscuit factory, the Minsk Dairy Plant are demonstrated. Of particular interest is the collection of candy wrappers from the confectionery factory "Kommunarka" in the 1930s – 1970s
