The building of the National Library of Belarus is located in Minsk’s major thoroughfare, Nezavisimosti Avenue. A statue of Francysk Skaryna, the first book printer in Belarus, stands in front of the library in a small square. The building hosts a Book Museum. There is a viewing site on the library’s roof with a panoramic elevator delivering the visitors there. The building features extraordinary lighting being essentially a large multi-colour screen which is turned on daily at sunset and operating until midnight.
