Yakub Kolas is considered a national hero in Belarus. He is one of the most prominent literary figures of the country and the national poet of Belarus. The monument to Yakub Kolas was erected to mark the ninetieth anniversary of his birth in 1972. In addition to the sculpture of the poet himself, sculptures of the heroes of his works were also installed. The figure of Yakub Kolos sits on a stone, lost in thought. The height of the sculpture is eight meters. To his right was Grandfather Talash with the young scout Panas, to his left was Simon-muzyka with Ganka. The characters surrounding their author are personifications of two directions of the poet's creativity — lyrical and patriotic. The architectural ensemble is completed by three fountains, stylized as a rye spike.
