Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War

The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War was opened on July 2, 2014, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus.
The very appearance of the new museum building, according to the architects, symbolizes a victory salute. Pobediteley Square was built near the museum, decorated with a fountain with 170 jets of water, symbolizing the 170 settlements liberated from the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. The water is falling down the hill.
The exterior of the building, as conceived by the architects, speaks of the greatness of Victory, the strength and power of the army and the people. The building is an "architectural salute". The museum is crowned by a dome in which the Victory Hall is located.
