Central Children's Park named after Maxim Gorky Park is one of the oldest and most beloved parks in Minsk, located in a picturesque area by the Svisloch River. It covers an area of 28 hectares and is famous for its variety of attractions, green alleys, rare tree species and cozy atmosphere. The park is especially popular with families with children, due to its wide range of activities for all ages. It harmoniously combines historical heritage, natural beauty and modern recreation infrastructure.
The history of the park begins in 1805, when the first governor of Minsk, Zakhary Artemievich Korneev, founded the Governor's Garden here, the first public recreation place in Belarus. Since then, the park has undergone many changes: at the end of the 19th century, sports fields, a bike track and lawn tennis courts appeared here. After the revolution, the park was renamed Profintern, and since 1936 it has been named after Maxim Gorky. In the post—war years, it was expanded and reconstructed: there were areas for children, a stadium, a cinema, and later a planetarium and an observatory. In 1960, the park officially became a children's park, and in 1976 the famous ice palace opened.
