The museum has been operating since 1983, and since 2014 it has been a branch of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The museum's exposition tells about the flora and fauna of Belarus and environmental protection.
The main purpose of the museum is to promote scientific and environmental knowledge, and to foster a respectful attitude towards nature among the younger generation. By drawing public attention to environmental issues, the museum staff enhances the ecological culture of visitors, activates the interest of the younger generation in nature conservation and conservation of biological diversity in Belarus.
